We who use electricity for lights sometimes forget that we are to be light bearers with our very souls and patterns of life.  The Gospel today points to how we can do this, using the metaphor of the ancient wedding party.

Forging Ahead in the Kingdom

Among some First Nations peoples, there is a tradition of giving certain individuals sacred objects for transmission of a deep spiritual message and object to the next generation.  The peace pipe of the White Buffalo Calf Woman is one such object. The custodian of these objects sees his or her role as a sacred trust to not only the tribe, but to all creation and the Great Spirit.  Their whole lives are lived in relation to this sacred trust.
